CGI Construction in Mission District, CA | Seaside Contractors

We provide independent CGI cabinetry, quartz countertop, and glass shower enclosure service across Mission District, San Francisco. What makes our CGI work different here is simple: we install this product inside 1870s – 1930s Victorians and Edwardians with bowed walls, soft-story ground floors, and zero-lot-line party walls, and we plan for those conditions from the first measurement. If you’re planning a kitchen remodel, a bath update, or replacing existing CGI components in 94110, call (833) 589-8103 for a free estimate. We’re an independent contractor – we sell, fit, and warranty CGI product on our own work, and we are not authorized, sponsored, or endorsed by CGI.

Why Mission District Residents Choose Us for CGI Service

We’ve spent years installing CGI cabinetry, quartz surfaces, and glass shower assemblies inside our Home Remodeling in Mission District projects, and we know how these products actually behave on out-of-plumb walls over soft-story ground floors. CGI builds a solid product – their ready-to-assemble all-plywood boxes, Euro-style frameless cabinets, quartz slabs, and frameless glass enclosures are well made. But any product installed against a 1910 wall that has settled three inches will show it. Glen Sorrento, owner of Seaside Contractors, grew up in Foster City’s Shell Cove watching lagoon-side homes get built and rebuilt, studied building construction technology at College of San Mateo, and has spent two-plus decades working through nearly every project type the Peninsula throws at a contractor. He’s the guy who can look at a CGI cabinet spec and a soft-story retrofit plan in the same afternoon and give a straight answer on both. Our clients stay with us because we solve the wall first, then the cabinet.

Common CGI Construction Problems We Solve in Mission District

Mission District General Contractor experience shows that local homes put CGI products through specific stresses. Here are the patterns we see most often and what actually causes them:

  • Racked frameless cabinet boxes on bowed walls. Mission Victorians and Edwardians were built with plaster over lathe, and the studs behind them are rarely straight after 100+ years. When CGI frameless boxes get shimmed against that bowed surface, they rack out of square within a season. Doors drift, drawers rub, and the client assumes the cabinet is defective. It isn’t – it’s the substrate. We re-square to the studs and rebuild the wall surface before resetting the run.
  • Quartz slab seams that stain along the cut edge. Narrow galley kitchens in stacked flats above Mission storefronts often leave no room for a proper seam layout. A dark seam line wicks moisture, especially near a sink cutout, and over time it stains and fails at the edge. Our templating accounts for the out-of-square room before any slab is cut.
  • Frameless glass shower doors that bind and loosen. Street-level Mission flats frequently sit above a garage or commercial space cut into the ground floor. That ground floor often lacks lateral bracing – a classic soft-story condition – and the slab or joist system has settled unevenly. A CGI frameless shower door hung on that floor will bind at the hinge and eventually loosen. We re-level the curb and re-hang the glass after the floor issue is addressed.
  • Toe-kicks and vanity back panels that swell and grow mold. The Mission’s sunnier microclimate doesn’t mean dry. Persistent coastal moisture and winter rain still drive rot and water intrusion on old wood structures. When a downhill garage or terrace drain pushes water toward the building, it wicks up into cabinets and vanities. The leak never shows at the fixture – it shows at the toe-kick.
  • Original knob-and-tube-era conditions behind modern fixtures. We routinely open Mission kitchen and bath walls and find wiring and plumbing from the 1920s that was never fully replaced. New CGI cabinetry and quartz go in fine, but the project often needs a systems correction behind the wall first. That’s the work that determines whether a remodel lasts ten years or forty.

CGI Service in Mission District: What Local Conditions Mean for Your Equipment

Because so many Mission District lots are zero-lot-line with shared party walls, even a kitchen or bath remodel that stays inside the footprint usually means coordinating access, scaffolding, and material staging with the neighbor across the wall. Reroofing or exterior work often needs a signed neighbor access agreement before a single CGI panel or shingle goes up. That’s not true in the Sunset or CGI repair in Noe Valley to the same degree – the Mission’s 25-foot-wide lots and shared side walls are a different animal. When we template a quartz countertop or re-square a cabinet run on a Mission Victorian, we’re often working inches from a neighbor’s framed wall. We’ve handled enough of these projects to know the access conversation has to happen before the material order, not after. Glen’s phrase for it: “Let’s figure out what the job actually needs – then we’ll talk materials.” In the Mission, that means understanding the party wall before picking the slab.

CGI Models & Products We Service in Mission District

We service the full CGI residential line that fits Mission District homes. That includes CGI Ready-to-Assemble all-plywood cabinetry in Shaker and raised-panel door styles, CGI Euro-style frameless full-overlay cabinet boxes, CGI quartz countertop slabs and prefabricated vanity tops, and CGI semi-frameless and frameless glass shower enclosures. We use CGI’s own OEM hinges, drawer slides, shelf pins, and glass hardware because the warranty and fit depend on them. We substitute quality aftermarket parts only for discontinued items or where a heavier-duty slide makes sense for a deeper drawer. On a Mission Victorian, we’d rather repair and re-square a sound CGI box than tear out a full run – replacement is the right call only when the substrate behind it is wet or the frame is genuinely failing.
