Mr-Glass Construction in Prunedale, CA | Seaside Contractors
We install and repair Mr-Glass windows, patio doors, and shower enclosures across Prunedale as an independent contractor, not a manufacturer affiliate. We also offer Castroville Mr-Glass service for homeowners in that area. The work here is shaped by something most glass companies never contend with: rural acreage, private lanes, county permits, and fog that works on sealed units year after year. Call (833) 589-8103 for a free estimate, and we’ll send someone who knows Mr-Glass hardware and Prunedale’s roads equally well.
Why Prunedale Residents Choose Us for Mr-Glass Service
Glen Sorrento has spent more than two decades working through nearly every project type the Central Coast throws at a contractor, and he’s quick to say the same thing about Mr-Glass equipment he says about roofing or plumbing fixtures: let’s figure out what the job actually needs, then we’ll talk materials. That’s how we approach every Mr-Glass call in Prunedale. We’re not here to sell you a full window replacement when a fogged sealed unit can be swapped for a fraction of the cost. We’re also not going to patch a slider that’s racked and needs to go.
Our team has handled Mr-Glass vinyl single-hung and double-hung units, sliding patio doors, and frameless shower enclosures in homes from San Miguel Canyon Road to the acreage off Crazy Horse Canyon. We know how the hardware behaves after years of Monterey Bay fog cycling, winter rain, and hard well water. That matters more than a brand logo on a truck. See our Mr-Glass sales & service page for the full scope of what we cover.

Common Mr-Glass Construction Problems We Solve in Prunedale
- Fogged dual-pane sealed units. In Prunedale, west-facing windows take the brunt of fog from Monterey Bay. Over time, the silica desiccant inside the sealed unit saturates, the glass hazes, and the only honest fix is a new sealed unit. We source OEM Mr-Glass glass where it’s still made and spec-grade equivalents when it isn’t.
- Sliding patio door roller and track wear. Rural lots mean windblown grit and soil find their way into door tracks. Rollers flat-spot, tracks fill with debris, and doors drag or jump the rail. We clear the track, replace rollers, and adjust the door so it actually glides again.
- Vinyl frame and weatherstripping degradation. Older ranch homes in Prunedale see winter rain intrusion and summer UV. Seals shrink, water gets past the sill, and frames lose their seal. We replace weatherstripping and flashing before the damage moves into the wall.
- Shower enclosure hardware corrosion and seal failure. Hard well water and daily fog-damp conditions pit hinges and break down silicone at the curb. We rebuild Mr-Glass shower enclosures with corrosion-resistant hardware and proper sealant work – not a cosmetic bead over failing joints.
- Racked frames from shifting rural foundations. Homes on acreage sometimes move. A Mr-Glass slider that once ran true can bind after a wet winter. We check the frame for square before assuming the rollers are the problem.
Mr-Glass Service in Prunedale: What Local Conditions Mean for Your Equipment
Here’s what makes Prunedale different from Watsonville or Salinas when it comes to Mr-Glass work. Prunedale is unincorporated Monterey County, which means building permits don’t route through a city hall. They go through the county. For most window and door replacements, that’s actually simpler – residential window swaps that don’t change the rough opening rarely need a plan check. But if your project touches a structural opening, an addition, or anything tied to a septic setback, the timeline is controlled by Monterey County’s schedule, not ours. We flag that early so you’re not surprised mid-project. And because so many homes sit on acre-plus lots with long private driveways, getting a Mr-Glass delivery and a glass crew to the actual building pad – sometimes hundreds of feet off Highway 101 up a gravel lane – is often the real scheduling constraint, not the install itself. We plan for that. The Prunedale service area page explains our coverage in more detail.
Mr-Glass Models & Products We Service in Prunedale
We service the Mr-Glass lines most common in Prunedale homes: vinyl single-hung and double-hung replacement windows, sliding patio doors, frameless and semi-frameless shower enclosures, and custom mirror and tabletop glass. When a part is still in production, we order OEM Mr-Glass hardware and sealed glass units. When OEM is discontinued, we match spec-grade aftermarket rollers, balances, and seals rather than forcing a full replacement. On a ranch-style home off a private lane near the San Miguel Canyon Road area, we replaced a set of fogged Mr-Glass dual-pane sliding windows and re-hung a dragging Mr-Glass patio door on new rollers after clearing years of grit from the track. Similar work is available through our Mr-Glass service in Elkhorn. The homeowner assumed the entire slider needed replacing. The frame was sound, so we swapped the sealed units and hardware. The door now glides and seals through the winter rains. That’s the judgment call we make on every Prunedale job.

AfterMr-Glass Service Pricing in Prunedale
These are line-item ranges we quote from, based on actual project scope. A fogged-unit swap lands near the bottom. A full multi-window replacement with impact-rated glass sits at the top. Prunedale’s rural access sometimes adds a modest delivery or access fee when the home is far off the paved road, but we quote that before work starts, not as a surprise at the end. Every estimate is free and written. Call (833) 589-8103 to schedule one.

FAQs – Mr-Glass Construction in Prunedale
Yes. If the frame is square and the sash is intact, we can remove the fogged sealed unit and drop in a new OEM Mr-Glass or spec-matched unit. It’s usually a one-day job, and it costs far less than a full window replacement. Call (833) 589-8103 and we’ll confirm whether your frame qualifies.
It’s usually both, and it’s common on rural Prunedale lots where windblown soil gets into the track. Rollers flat-spot and the track fills with grit. We remove the door, clear the track, replace the rollers, and re-hang the panel. If the frame has racked from shifting ground, that’s a different repair, but we’ll tell you which one you’re dealing with before quoting.
We do, and hard well water is the single biggest killer of shower hardware we see in Prunedale. Hinges pit, seals break down, and silicone fails at the curb. We rebuild enclosures with corrosion-resistant hardware and proper silicone work that holds up to heavy mineral exposure. Call (833) 589-8103 for an assessment.
For standard replacements that keep the same rough opening, typically no. Prunedale routes permits through Monterey County, not a city building department, and window swaps rarely need plan check. Our Mr-Glass repair in Aromas follows the same streamlined process. Structural changes, additions, or anything near a septic area can change that, and we’ll flag it before you commit to the work.
Fog from Monterey Bay cycles moisture against glass and frames, winter rain tests sills and flashing, and dry summers bake seals. The result is exactly what we repair most in Prunedale: fogged dual-pane units, worn weatherstripping, and slider tracks full of grit. The same conditions drive our Mr-Glass repair in San Juan Bautista. A seasonal check catches most of these before a small seal failure becomes a water-damage problem. Call (833) 589-8103 to set one up.
